Juvenile Justice Mentoring Forum

Juvenile Justice Mentoring Forum

We know mentoring works, but how can it work with juvenile offenders? Running a mentoring program for at-risk kids is always difficult. Arrest and incarceration multiplies the challenges.

But the opportunities are too great to ignore. Some ministries have had great success in mentoring juvenile offenders. Every ministry struggles with some aspect of the work.

This forum is designed to bring these ministries together to examine successes and struggles as well as brainstorm and pray. We will share methods, materials and training that help make mentoring an effective tool in transforming the lives of young men and women involved in the justice system. The forum will focus on three tasks:

  • Discovery: Does mentoring work with juvenile offenders?
    • What do they need?
    • How can mentors help?
    • Which mentors are helpful?
  • Presentations:
    • Recruiting effective mentors
    • Retaining good mentors
    • Long-term effectiveness with juvenile offenders
  • Brainstorming: Overcoming obstacles to juvenile mentoring
  • Establishing: Employing best practices in juvenile mentoring

If your mentoring ministry is thriving, this will give you the chance to help others as you are learning from other effective ministries. If you are struggling or even just beginning, this will give you the opportunity to learn from those who have seen the Lord use mentors to bring hope into hurting lives. We guarantee that it will be a time of learning and encouragement.
