  • Question : Is the Christian Association of Youth Mentoring a mentoring ministry?
    Answer :

We are here to empower, encourage and equip you.  The CAYM was formed to serve the needs of Christ-focused youth mentoring ministries that may function as a not-for-profit organization or exist as a ministry within a church.  Our goal is to reveal the Father's love to millions of vulnerable youth by equipping and supporting the ministries that work directly with the kids.

Question : What kind of member benefits are you talking about?
    Answer :

Our inventory of resources is growing almost weekly.  Areas of particular interest to members include:

    • Fundraising- One of our member ministries annually raises more than $200,000 by holding an auction and publishing a journal.  Working with them, we have developed an "Auction/Journal Tooklit".  A step-by-step guide to conducting a "Run For Youth" event is also available.
    • Promotion- Several professionally produced videos have been created in a generic format.  They may be used "off the shelf" or a member may insert their name, logo and contact information.

Question : Why would I want to join the CAYM?
    Answer :

"A cord of three strands is not quickly broken."  Ecc. 4:12

The vision of CAYM is to act as a conduit whereby resources and effective programs can be shared among member ministries.  Often, a ministry has spent much time and money developing and refining a program or product.  By creating an inventory of such material and making it available to members, we can reduce the cost and time of individual ministries "re-inventing the wheel."

Question : A major challenge to my ministry is securing liability insurance. Can you help?
    Answer :

We are currently working with an insurance agent to whom we will direct interested members.  A ministry is accepted for memberhip in the CAYM only if it demonstrates that it adheres to the accepted standards of safe and effective mentoring.  These include mentor screening, training and ongoing supervision.  By maintaining these standards for membership we will establish credibility in the insurance industry, thereby making affordable insurance more available.

Question : What are the dues to belong to CAYM ?
    Answer :

Membership in the CAYM is not contingent upon paying dues. We do ask each mentoring organization or church ministry to prayerfully consider supporting the organization either through a donation or by including us in their mission budget.

Question : At times it can get lonely out here. Do you plan opportunities for members to get together to network and fellowship?
    Answer :

Yes.  We Anticipate having a yearly convention at a central location.  This will provide opportunity for panel discussions, sharing and restful fellowship.
